The Local Culture Hostel
Our main building has 8 unique theme rooms with 28 beds. The hostel provides accommodation in comfy 2 bed private rooms and 4-6 bed dorms. We have shared shower facilities, a well-equipped guest kitchen and a cozy living room.
The Local Culture Café
Our cafe offers Finnish breakfast in addition to local café treats. The selection of our café is solely based on vegetarian and vegan options and we always aim to bring you the best products our city and region can offer! We also arrange a wide range of culture events in our café. Hostel guests and locals are both welcome to our café.
History of our building
Our story begins in the year 1851, in the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland. Harvest is uncertain, population keeps growing. A grand Art Nouveau stone building, Seminaarinmäki granary, is built to secure the local grain supply during the difficult years.
